RPC Failure - System Shutdown - Cannot correct

Each time I dial-up (via modem) within about 2 mins of
getting connected, I recieve an error:

Windows must shutdown - Initiated by NT Authority/System -
45 secs to shutdown - The RPC (Remote Procedure Call) was
terminated unexpectedly and the system must shutdown.

I'm not on a network. I am dialing up via my phone line
and through SBC.

Any suggestions?
