We are having Windows 2000 server with Service Pack3.
But frequently our server is hanging due to RPC error.

You do keep your server up to date on security updates and all that, yes?

Hi

This could be the caused by a worm (Welchia/Blaster)...

You do have MS03-026/KB823980 or MS03-039/KB824146 installed (MS03-039 includes
MS03-026)?

If you do not have MS03-039/KB824146 installed, download MS03-039 patch from
here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=824146

(at the same time, you should install this one as well:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-043.asp )

After you have patched your computer and rebooted, to cleanup the worm that
might already has infected you:

I would recommend that you run a cleanup tool, e.g. Stinger.exe from McAfee, it

removes 30+ virus/worms in one sweep, including all MSBlaster variants (McAfee
name W32/Lovsan.worm), Welchia (McAfee name W32/Nachi.worm) and Sobig.f
