My computer keeps rebooting upon startup. I get an error
stating RPC service has terminated unexpectadly,
initiated by NT authority system. When I check the event
log it states that this error is event ID 7031, but no
further info is found on the XP help site.

Please help.
Thanks,
Dave

This may be that new virus, which is
worm "W32.Blaster.worm so check this site here;
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32
..blaster.worm.html
When the worm causes the RPC service to fail, this service
is set to reboot the PC. You can try to reboot into the
safe mode, or follow those instructions to change the upon
failure to restart the service. And look here too;
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/?
url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp
RPC is remote procedure call and is a very vital windows
service.
