hi all. My Outlook (2002, running on win98) has gone
completely bonkers. I received an error when I tried
send/receive and figured maybe my .Pst file was getting a
bit big and an archive would help.

Started the archive and left it to run overnight. Got
back this morning and received an error "operation
failed". I browsed my inbox and all hell had broken
loose. Under my inbox was a 'deleted items' and
an 'inbox' directories. Under each inbox directory was
another 'inbox' and 'deleted items' directory. This
repeats about 30 times and the contents of each 'inbox'
isn't exactly alike to another one.

I figured I'd just copy the contents of each inbox into
the original one but I get a "operation failed" if I try
to copy, delete or move..

My .PST folders are also over 1.9GB big too, which I know
isn't helping..

help!! anybody??

Sounds like you archived to your original pst-file and thus causing a look
of archiving messages which are archived again and again and... untill your
pst-file hit the maximum size of 2GB. You you'll have to repair that 2GB
pst-file first before you can open it again. Then create a new pst-file and
copy the folders you want to keep to that new pst-file. From there start the
archiving again (if you still want to) and make sure you archive it to a
different pst-file this time ;-)
