Routing via gateway on another subnet

Hi

Hoping that someone here can help me with a routing problem.

I have the following network:

Internet
Site 1 ----> Router 1 -------> Router 2 ------->Site 2
192.168.2.x 192.168.2.250 192.168.1.249 192.168.1.x
|
|
|
New gateway PC
192.168.1.10
|
|
SUPPLIER INTRANET

Currently all PCs at Site 1 and Site 2 can 'talk' to eachother.
All PCs at Site 2 can connect to the SUPPLIER INTRANET if I set change
their gateway to be 192.168.1.10 (their default gateway is
192.168.1.249)

I need to set up a PC in Site 1 to access the SUPPLIER INTRANET via the
gateway at Site 2(192.168.1.10) - this is my problem.

I tried changing the gateway on a PC in site 1 to 192.168.1.10, however
this didn't seem to work, I don't think you can have a gateway beyond a
router i.e. on another subnet.

Also tried adding in an entry to the routing table on a PC on site 1,
again this didn't work.
I did a tracert to a PC on the SUPPLIER INTRANET, the packets seem to
go to Router 1 -> internet -> then get lost, they weren't being
directed to Router 2, and so not onto 192.168.1.10

Do I do something on Router 1 (a Cisco router - not sure of model) to
tell it to forward ALL packets from a specific PC on Site 1 to
192.168.1.10

Hopefully someone will be able to understand this description, I'd be
very grateful with any help.

Thanks

At the very least, you need to configure a static route on router #2. The
route should point to 192.168.1.10 as the gateway for the IP network of the
Supplier Internet. That way subnet 2 machines can continue to use the
router as a default gateway and only packets destined for the supplier
intranet will be sent to 192.168.1.10.

You may also have to configure routes on the gateway PC and router #1, but
we don't have enough information.
