Routing to multiple networks behind 2003 PPTP server?

Hello all -

When I connect to my 2003 pptp server, I can access the LAN that is
directly attached to the pptp server just fine. However, we have
hundereds of other networks that I need to access, but can't (all in
the 172.16.0.0 255.240.0.0 space).

I've setup static routes on the PPTP server, but the remote clients
aren't getting these routes when they attach. It all works OK when 'use
as default gateway' is checked on the client, but we don't want this
checked.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to pass routes to the PPTP
clients on connect? Is there another solution, other than static routes
on the clients (I have hundreds of clients)

Thanks,

Cav

For security point, you should use default gateway on remote network. if, for some reasons, you don't want to use default gateway on remote network, the option is creating a batch file to add route on each client.

Thanks for the help. So, if I want the clients internet traffic to go
over their broadband, and not the PPTP vpn connection, I have to have a
batch file or somesuch to define routes on the client?

Hmmm, not so good, trying to get sales guys to go through that process
will be a challenge. Looks like I'll be going with a commercial VPN
product then... :(

thanks!

You can pre-create a CAMK including the batch for all sales people.

TS over VPN With Microsoft CMAK, you can combine VPN and TS together and just one-click to ... You also can use CMAK to save or export a VPN client for other computers. ...

You can also create a Route list on your DHCP server and set up the PPTP
server to send the routes from DHCP server to your VPN clients upon
connection. This is what we do to download routes without using the "Use
default gateway on remote network" option.
