Routing problem with machine inside VPN

As of this morning I can no longer reach a machine inside the VPN that I
could yesterday.

I have verified with a colleague that the system is up and accessible via
another VPN access point (which I can't use).

When I do a traceroute to machines inside the VPN that I can reach I can
see the packets being routed through the VPN. When I try to trace to this
one problem machine it heads off onto the public Internet.

Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.

posting the routing table here may help.

When you try to trace to this machine name you said that your packets route to some Internet address. I have seen this as well when I try to reach my Terminal server at my work by connecting via the VPN and addressing it by the computer name Terminal. Some other terminal server logon box pops up.

This is because my router at home gets a DNS name from my home provider, Comcast.net. So even though log onto my VPN and try to reach terminal.mydomain.com by name terminal, I am directed to terminal.mysubdomain1.mysubdomain2.comcast.net which is not what I want.

Try tracert to the computer by the IP address that the administrator tells you it has ( not by what your computer thinks it has). I that works you can still address the computer by name, but you will have to address it by computername.yourdomain.com.

I figured it out myself by manually adding a route.
