I can't seem to configure my Windows server properly. I'll explain my
situation.
I have two networks that I want to route together via a Windows 2K server.
The networks are 192.168.2.0 and 192.168.3.0. My Windows 2K Server is my
DC, DNS, WINS, and SMTP server. Besides routing it does not have any RAS
responsibilites.
Here's what I did. I have two NICS with IPs of let's say 192.168.3.1 and
192.168.2.1. I start the RAS service as a routing service on the 2K Server.
On my desktops I set the default gateway to the ip address of the server.
For example my workstation would be 192.168.2.2, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.2.1.
From the server I can ping addresses on either network, but from the
workstations I can only ping addresses local to the network. I would think
my problem is in the routing, but I am not sure how to correctly configure
them. I did a route add on a workstation and was able to get it to work,
but I want to do this on the server so that each workstation doesn't have to
be configured.
Also, another problem exist. I left both nics installed over the weekend,
and for some reason my 192.168.2.1 address became unaccessible for my
workstations.
Please guide me through the proper routing config.
Thanks.
