Routing Interface will not connect

I have a DC and member server both Windows 2000 SP4. They are connected
using PTPP VPN over ADSL.
The whole configuration worked fine until I rebooted one of the servers and
now a connection cannot be made from the DC to the member server.
If I try and connect the Interface manually I get "The interface is
disconnected" first and then "The following error occurred: the interface
credentials have not been set".
I can create a VPN connection from the DC to the member server which would
suggest ports etc are open correctly.
I can connect a DoD connection from the second machine back to the DC.

I have tried many different username and passwords but none of them seem to
work.

Does anyone have any ideas ? I am sure it is not actually a
username/password problem.

Based on what you can and cannot do, I would say the problem is with the
config of the demand-dial interface on the member server.

Why do you say that ?

The member server is able to make the connection to the DC.

True, but that doesn't require the correct setup of the demand dial
interface's properties. You can also connect to the member server with a
normal client-server connection. That also doesn't require the dd interface.

What you cannot do is make a router-to-router connection to the member
server. That does depend on the demand dial interface being correctly
configured to receive a connection from another router.
