Just installed a Linksys BEFSR41 router on Windows 98SE
system.Worked great for a week. Now, as I try to access
the internet I get an error message c:
windows\system\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm. At other times I
get disconnected when on line with the same error message.
Called Linksys and they had me shut down the computer,
disconnect the router , than the cable modem ( using
Comcast as provider ). Start computer, cable modem, and
than the router. This brought me back to the internet.
Within a day or so I am back to the original problem and
error message. Any help on this would be appreciated.

The Linksys router will typically obtain an IP address and DNS settigns for
it's WAN connection from the ISP (Comcast in this case) and then pass the
DNS settings to your machine.

Check the DNS IP addresses on you machine (cmd prompt, ipconfig /all), make
sure that you are getting two (or more) IP addresses for DNS servers.
If not, you can ask Comcast for DNS server IP addresses to use. You can
then add those DNS server IP addresses manually on the TCP/IP properties of
the network card for your machine.

Also realize that the DNS servers at the ISP can sometimes be down or
become unreachable - that's one of the reasons to ahve multiple DNS server
IP addresses.
