When settting up 2 or more PC's on a router, do they all have to run the
same O/S.
For instance 1 has XP, do they all need XP ?
or is it okay to run another with 98 SE ?

Thanks in advance

Yea you sure can run different OS's, there maybe a couple of con's about
doing that but shouldn't affect the way the computers communicate with each
other or through the net. I have 4 computers, one's running Win 2K pro,
then XP Home, then Windows 98 first edition, then another one running 98
SE....all work great with each other.

Networking exists to allow computers using different operating systems to
communicate and share resources.

The website above is a good place to start as is reading the manual for your
router.

Routers, for the most part, are independant of the OS of the machines or
devices that connect to them. The only OS requirement may be some setup
or management software, although even Microsofts routers have a web
interface that works with most browsers.
