Is it possible for a router to disable a certain protocol like
appletalk or netbeui in a network? I was referring to a general router
functionality. Pls advise Thanks

Regards,
Daniel

Yes, most routers, ...that is "real" routers and not one of those Cable/DSL
NAT boxes they call routers,...have the ability to use ACLs to control
anything related to Layer3 or Layer4.

You mean my $19 D-link is not a real router?? --- Steve

Traffic over the router: yes, you can
For example, for permit ipx protocol, you need to run this on the router
console:
"dialer-list 1 protocol ipx permit"
Only pass the protocols permit, not all other.

I just love picking at those home-user "routers". It not as much fun as a
cat & a water-gun, but close.

Access Control List

I'd poke an eye out trying to write out the syntax by memory in a message.
Besides, it is different for every device out there. It's one of those
things you have to check the manual or the manufacturer for information on.
