router/access point question?

Hi guys.

i wanted some clarification.
if i have a router/access point.... can i use my laptop wirelessly?
and if yes.. how are the connections made?

note: i don't have any other computer

The Router /Access Point can act as your gateway to the Internet. I believe
this is what you are asking.

Router]----------------------Wired

the AP / Router will forward the packets to the wired segment. This may be
your Internet connection via cable modem or DSL.
