hi,
we have NT workstations that get a dhcp address, and after login a routing
table is applied depending on the ip address. so we can work transparently
over multiple locations.
we are planning now to migrate to XP, using the same technique. all is well,
except when there is a ( brief ) disconnection of the network cable. in that
case the ip address becomes 0.0.0.0, and consequently the routing table is
flushed. after the connection is restored, the ip address is also restored,
but the routing table is gone.
NT does not behave this way. if the cable is pulled, the dhcp address stays
put, so does the routing table.
does anyone know how to force w2k / xp to behave like NT regarding this
issue??
