Rotating Text in Master Slide

I have a PowerPoint 2002 problem that I can't figure out
how to fix. I've created a vertical Title Master in my
presentation's Slide Master, but it is facing left, when
I need it to face right. Outside of the Master Slide, I
know exactly how to rotate a text box, but inside the
Master Slide, it doesn't give me the same options. Is
there a way to trick it into working?

This looks like a bug to me, Kathryn, especially since you can rotate
the placeholders on the regular slide master.

Seems PPT 2003 works the same way. No rotation available on the Title
master.

OK, why can we rotate the date, the slide number and the footer, but not the
title and text? Sounds like it may be by design rather than a bug. Perhaps
it is to help keep the font as crisp as possible. Just a thought.

Permission denied error is trying to rotate text or title placeholders thru
VBA. Interesting...

Wild guess:

The date, slide number and footer can only contain text. Text boxes can be rotated,
even in early versions of PPT. No problems.

But the body text placeholder is the thing that determines the placement of graphs,
media, etc. Anything on any of the layouts that includes more than just a title.
Since some of that content can't be rotated, at least not in all versions, it
probably makes sense not to let you rotate the container.
