somehow my computer will not give me the option to rotate pix by file >
rotate or on the side in the folder the top option named - Picture Tasks -
is no longer there, is there a way to turn this back on without restoring all
defalts to the folder, this is on my bosses computer at work so I really dont
want to screw it up if ya know what I mean :)

Thanks Amy

Here's a simple fix you can try:

If you previously checked "In the future do not
show me this dialog box" when a dialog warned
about the possibility of reducing the quality of
your images, the following fix may restore your
option to rotate.

Open a picture in the Windows Picture And Fax
Viewer. Hold down the Ctrl key and left click the
X in the top right corner of the window.

If that did not restore your option to rotate...

Try this:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

You're welcome.

Thanks for the update.

John,

Just a quick 'thank you' for your explanation: I had managed to lose the
ability to see image preview in mypictures for about 1 week, and have spent a
good part of the past few days hunting about for a repair. Running the
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL has returned my computer to (xppro sp2) to full
function. Thank you again, it's nice to see what's in there instead of
having to open images one at a time.
