Rotating a text box

Does anyone know how to rotate a text box in Excel2002? I want my chart
annotations to align with the plotted data. I've tried everything I can
think of, but when formatting the text box, the rotate option on the
"size" tab is always greyed out. I would use WordArt instead, but
there's no plain text option with it, just silly looking decorative
text. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Try the "Alignment" tab when formatting the text box.

Dave,

Thanks, but that only gives vertical and horizontal orientations, I need
continuous angle adjustment.

One possible solution is to use data labels rather than text boxes to
annotate your chart. Create a dummy series (see
http://www.geocities.com/jonpeltier/Excel/) and make it invisible. The
various data points serve as anchors for your annotations. Then use a data
labeler (i.e. the one at www.appspro.com) to label the invisible series.
These data labels allow the +/- 90 degree rotation from horizontal in a
near-continuous range of angles.
