Rotate video file

Mike M.

I would like to be able to rotate video files 90 degrees. In some cases
they are mpeg2 VOB files. I just want to rotate them and not convert to a
different format, compression scheme or anything else. I want the same
quality, frame size and such. I tried virtualdub and it did a great job of
rotating but it converts to an avi file (which is huge). I have read some
about a program named TMPGEnc for converting to a different compression
format but I'd rather not mess with the video file other than rotating it.

Does anyone know of a program that will rotate a video file without
converting it?

TIA.

Actually rotating the video file itself will always require recompression,
even if to the same format. However, a similar result can be achieved with
come video cards that have the option to rotate the display in their display
settings, but this will affect the entire display and not just the video...

Why would you want to display a movie on it's side out of interest?

We use Plasmas and large LCD's as monitors for displaying information in
public places. Many of these are mounted in a portrait orientation. The PC
outputs to the monitor in it's native landscape mode. We use Pivet Pro
software to rotate the display. Some customers provide us with video clips
that they have already (erroneously) rotated. I need to rotate them back.
We have been using a video card that performs rotation but recently found
out it does not rotate directx or OpenGL data. So even though the
containing window would be rotated, the actual video content was not. The
Pivot software rotates it all.
