Ron re: xp reboots when clicking ftp links

Thank you so much for your reply Ron... I apologise for
the double post it wasn't intentional... I did what you
said and here is the stop message at the blue screen:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is
properly installed, ask you hardware or software
manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue remove any new software or hardware.
Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

I have not installed any new hardware I have installed a
few older pc games and share freeware programs recently
but I've since uninstalled most of it. This problem is a
recent development. The computer is only 18 months old
and I think most of my programmes: IE, Nortons AntiVirus
and OE for instance are up to date. I know my way around
most programs but when it come to the inner workings of
computers I'm not too good.

Hi Deb,

Possible causes include an unsigned driver, a disk utility (like a third
party defragger - think Norton's here), or even an updated antivirus
program. Even uninstalling the program that caused it might leave something
behind. If you run System Restore, can you go back to one from before you
installed these extras?

18 minutes prior to this message.

Please allow at least 24 hours for replies to come in to your
