Hi,

I hope someone can help with the following problem:

After installing an anti spyware software called Sunbelt CounterSpy I am no
longer able to reach this computers desktop using Remote Desktop function in
Windows XP. Browsing the machines shares also stoped working after I used
this software.

My problem is that I can't find out what changes CounterSpy did to my
machine to prevent Remote Desktop from working.

Every thing else is just like before I installed CounterSpy, and then
everything was working just fine.

Please someone help, I'm desperat :-)

Have you tried turning Remote Desktop back on? It's found by right-clicking
My Computer, selecting Properties, then the Remote tab.

As for the shares, we need a little more information, like error messages
and event log entries, to narrow that down. But the first thing I'd try
would be disabling any XP firewalls and uninstalling any non-XP firewalls,
then see if file sharing works again.

I have turned it on and off and on again many times. No luck.

As for the shares I have found the reason why it didn't work. The machines
was using the Guest account as default when connecting to the shares,
disabeling this in Registry did it for me.

RD still not working :-(

Thanx for helping,

RB

Some folks that run NAV 2005 report the built-in worm protection disables Remote Desktop. Perhaps
that is happening on your PC with this Sunbelt software...

:-) Thank you for pointing that out. Opened the RD port in NAV 2005 and
everything works just fine now. And I have been looking at CounterSpy as the
problem :-)

Thanx
