We are currently using Defender version 1.1.1347.0 on all our enterprise Win
XP and 2k Pro clients. I am thinking of rolling out the latest 1.1.1593 via
GPO. I read that new version 1.1.1593 is not supported on Win2k clients. So i
am wondering, if i create a domain-wide policy, will Win2k clients just
ignore the new package or will it break the existing installation of 1.1.1347
for them?
Thank you!

Hmm - I'm not sure of the answer to this one--I haven't attempted this
update manually on a Windows 2000 system. I "think" that the update will
fail before the in-place version is uninstalled, but I'm not certain of
that--testing would be advisable.

Windows Defender is not designed for this environment. Microsoft's product
which IS designed for your environment is Microsoft Forefront Client
Security:

This product is presently in public beta, and supports Windows 2000 clients.
