I have just uninstalled Vista RC 1 and went back to Windows XP.Reason is I've
seen enough now the computer that has Xp on it runs slow or sluggish.Still
using RC 1 on another computer. What is the reason for this does anybody have
a clue?
This computer I did a clean install on, was the way to go, really fast.I was
happy with the way it responded.Thanks.

Hmm... need a little more clarity to be able offer any recommendations...

So... you were dual booting this computer to Vista/XP, now you've
uninstalled Vista and XP now runs slower than it did prior to installing
Vista as a dual boot OS?

Does anyone have a clue as to what? You have two PC's; one running XP and
one running Vista?

And what OS are we talking about here? XP or Vista?

LANG sorry for the confusion,I have two computers. One had Windows XP Pro,on
one I upgraded to Windows Vista 2 then to RC 1 and it runs so, so.
On the other computer that had Windows Xp Home this is the one I did a clean
install on.Installed real easy and ran fast.I wanted to change that computer
back to Windows Pro, I know this is the one that previously had Windows XP
Home on it,during the re-installation of XP Pro it did'nt go smooth but never
less it worked. Now it runs slow and sluggish.
Both Dell 3.2 GHZ Deminsion 4600
80 gb Hard drive
1.5 ghz Memory
What I am asking if there is some reason why this computer runs slow now
that Windows Vista RC 1 has been taken off?

No. Not if you did a clean install on a reformatted drive. It may be that
you need to check to BIOS for anything odd, and also check in Windows
whether the harddrives are DMA enabled .. and while you are checking around
do a defrag on the disks etc.

Also set the various settings of Windows XP for performance - including
making sure video acceleration is set to full - and that Windows is managing
memory better for programs and not better for services and so on. From a
look at the computer's "stats" I would think that the thing should be quick
and responsive.

Saucy Sass,

Thanks for your help the hard drive wasn't set to DMA, so I changed it and
checked everything else and it works fine now.
