I've searched around for an answer but have come up empty. In my case, all
my USB devices are present and accounted for:
Intellipoint Mouse (listed in the HID section by name)
Scanner (listed in the Imaging devices section by name)
Hub (down in the USB controllers section)
That's it. So why is it on a clean install of XP SP1 (later updated with all
patches--made no difference) that the banged "USB Human Interface Device"
keeps appearing in the HID section? If I "uninstall" it, it just comes back
upon reboot. I can disable it (or not, it doesn't seem to affect anything),
but I'm just curious where it's coming from. Nothing else is banged.
This is an Intel 865GBF system with the latest Intel Chipset drivers
installed, which informs the OS about the chipset. I'm guessing it's just a
phantom entry having to do with the newness of the chipset relative to XP.
