Rogue "USB Human Interface Device" yellow bang in Device Manager

I've searched around for an answer but have come up empty. In my case, all
my USB devices are present and accounted for:

Intellipoint Mouse (listed in the HID section by name)
Scanner (listed in the Imaging devices section by name)
Hub (down in the USB controllers section)

That's it. So why is it on a clean install of XP SP1 (later updated with all
patches--made no difference) that the banged "USB Human Interface Device"
keeps appearing in the HID section? If I "uninstall" it, it just comes back
upon reboot. I can disable it (or not, it doesn't seem to affect anything),
but I'm just curious where it's coming from. Nothing else is banged.
This is an Intel 865GBF system with the latest Intel Chipset drivers
installed, which informs the OS about the chipset. I'm guessing it's just a
phantom entry having to do with the newness of the chipset relative to XP.

I think your problem is due to the fact that you need to update the USB drivers to USB 2.0 (which are the ones that work with your new motherboard).

I am working with a motherboard from Intel (875P chipset) and it happened the same to me when I put it to work. I needed to install the new drivers that I got from the "yellow bang"--> update or install drivers. (I got mine from Microsoft and all the USB connections work perfectly now).

You should also be able to download them from Intel or from the brand of your motherboard. I hope it solves your problem.
