Hi,

Windows 2003 SBS Premium - DHCP server stopped with the following errors:

Source: DhcpServer
Event ID: 1053
The DHCP/BINL service on this computer running Windows Server 2003 for Small
Business Server has encountered another server on this network with IP
Address, 192.168.1.1, belonging to the domain: .
Source: DhcpServer
Event ID: 1054
The DHCP/BINL service on this computer is shutting down. See the previous
event log messages for reasons.

After a couple of hours, I realized that the 192.168.1.1 IP was for the
remote Cisco router's and not the local router (192.168.0.1) connecting this
server to the Internet which had its DHCP disabled.

I managed to disable the DHCP on the remote router which has a VPN tunnel to
the local office. But still, server's DHCP server refuses to start...

I've been researching about this problem for a while now, evaluated and
tried many "fixes", however no change yet.

Has anybody encountered such a problem?
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Greg

There can be some DHCP servers on the other side of you VPN network or your
router if the DHCPO traffic isnt blocked in thos routers.

What errors do you get when you try to reactivate the DHCP scope on your
server now?

There was a Linksys DHCP on the local network :)
I should have looked for the obvious first :)

tnx

I don't get any errors anymore, as I mentionned the problem originated from
a Linksys router that somebody had plugged on the network.
However, the error messages I had were:
