Many years ago I got the RoboType program from PC Magazine (when the
programs were still free to subscribers). I have used it very much and
depend on it a lot. However, in the past few months it has become
unreliable - sometimes it won't load properly, sometimes it won't install
the Task Bar icon, and sometimes it gives the wrong text for the commanded
one. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several ties to no avail. Does
anybody know of any similar programs that are available that are no too
expensive? In case you are not familiar with RoboType, you can define a line
of text to be inserted when you enter an abbreviation or code with the
proper suffix, usually a space. You can define a number of libraries so that
you can load one for when you are doing your taxes, one when you are typing
a letter, one for ... well, you get the idea.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks you for your response and advice. Please excuse my incompetence, but
I cannot get the program from that site. I click on the <Download Now> icons
and I don't see anything happening. Sometimes some of the icons take me to
the PCMag site where they want me to pay for, what I believe is, the old
version, which is the version that I am having problems with. Could you
please take a minute and send me some instructions as to how to get this
program. It did load a file with and extension of ".pf", but I don't know
what to do with that file.

Thanks for your patience.

Go to download.com, type in search, robotype. The first
sentence states when it was first released and then further
down it will tell the version number.

Thanks for the advice, but this also takes me to the PCMag site that will
only work if I pay.
