Hi. We are currently adding Roaming Profles, redrected My Documents, mapped
user data folder for each user and central location for software
distribution. On our network we have 2 DCs and 2 member servers (XP
Clients). We are trying to decide where to locate the above data and using
what method to make it available so that it can be accessed on both the main
DC and backup DC should one fail. So far we were considering using the
SYSVOL folder or using DFS.

Can anyone advise the best location to locate the files and any advantages
or disadvantages on which method to use to make them available ?

Thanks for any help,
Stuart.

My short answer: use DFS. The sysvol folders aren't meant to store/replicate
large amounts of user data.
