I'm trying to understand something -- does having the
ability to use "roaming profiles" on a network require 1)
just a workgroup type 2) a domain network or 3) Active
Directory. The reason I ask is that a study book for
MCSA seems to indicate that only win2k prof. is needed
thus implying that only a workgroup is needed. --- Mike

A roaming profile needs to have a centralized location. AKA a domain.
Active Directory is not required. ( this feature has been around since NT )

So... AD is separate from a Domain? The study I've been
doing so far seemed to imply they are synonymous.

So ... There must be a server that is running as a domain
controller; must the profile reside on the DC? --- Mike

This is an addendem to my last reply. When looking at one
of the servers on my network (win2k Adv. Server) I noticed
on the configuration wizard that it says "To make this
server a domain controller you must install Active
Directory."

Dosn't this imply that the two are synonymous?
