Hello,

I want to deploy roaming profiles on existing W2000 domain and I just want
to know the opinions AGAINST from people who have had experience with this.
With standard non-romaing profiles,
I have commonly met frustration of users lacking their mailbox folder when
logging on to another machine than one of their own, and missing their
native Desktops, visible applications, as well as problems with accessing
their profiles after disjoining and joining their computers to domain.
Your opinions, please!

Vladimir

One thing to think about, it might be an issue with slow networks since the
log on time will increase. Also, they leave a cached copy of the profile on
the machine they're logging in on, but that can be taken care of via group
policies.

Keep the profile sizes small. Tell users not to store files on their
desktops. Either via policy or manually, redirect My Documents to the users'
home directory. If you do this, it shouldn't represent a real problem...

Problems with a user's desktop if he logs on from different operating
systems, like w9x, NT4, w2k, wXP ?
