XP Home cannot join a domain, and anyway a domain controller may
be overkill both from an administration and from a cost point of
view.
There are ways to copy profiles from one computer to another
though. If you try to do that, be careful not to copy the
folders MachineKeys and NTBackup and the file data.dat from the
All Users profile and perhaps the Temporary Internet Files
folder from the user profiles, because copying these can cause
severe problems.
You cannot copy a user profile's registry hive if the user is
logged on to either machine, so you may have to log on to a
different administrator account on both computers before
copying.
