OK, this isn't an Outlook question, though I have plenty of those. I respect your answers too much to post to another group. I apologize for this indiscretion

I'm running XP Home and use IE6 as my browser.

When I open IE and my 'favorites' appear on the left column (URLs), there is always a new one called 'Links'. it's a folder and every time I delete it it comes back with each open of a new window.

It's not an attempt to hijack, or anything malicious. It just sits there, empty, waiting for me to delete it and start the insane cycle anew. Others have confused this with the 'links' options from the toolbar. Not so

My therapist says "LINUX bay-bee", I say "nuts"

What do you say

Tot ziens and PROST for the nieuw jaar.

I have the same folder in my favorites and it lists the same links I have
under my links toolbar, I know if I delete it, it will come back with the
same links in it. How possitive are you it has nothing to do with your links
toolbar?

Thanks

Hi Scott,

Dutch as well or is it restricted to a few lines? ;-)

I succesfully got rid of the Links folder when I first disabled the Links
Tool Bar (View-> Tool Bars-> Links). When it was disabled I could delete the
folder and when I restarted Internet Explorer the folder didn't return. Once
I've added the Links Tool Bar again the folder returned so I guess it
doesn't hurt deleting the folder.

Jij ook alvast de beste wensen voor het nieuwe jaar toegewenst!
Best wishes for the New Year to you too!

Regards,

nee, not a nederlander, from nieuw amsterdam though. the rest is a long, strange trip.

the 'links' button is disabled on the IE toolbar. always is/was.

my dutch is poor, but i can ride the nacht train from r'dam to a'dam, no worries.

The train from Rotterdam... that's about 30 minutes with the "metro" from
where I live :-D

Is the Links folder now gone? I just used a testing machine here where I
deleted all Favorites + folders. After a reboot it was still empty. Note
that you'll have to disable the Links Tool Bar in both Internet Explorer as
Explorer.

Where I'd like to be is in Utrecht, at the 'Oudaen'. If in A'dam, 'Kroon'.I have a favorite place in R'dam, somewhere near the Coolsingel, but I forget the name. I miss the puffetjes from Laren and the crocketjes from any FEBO :

No, the links folder still exists on my favorites column. The option is unchecked on the IE toolbar. What other explorer should I be looking for

tot straks mijn vriend, best to you and yours.

Yep, and don't forget the Pizza Hut :-D

The other Explorer is where you browse your files in (Verkenner in Dutch).
Just use Start-> Run; Explorer or the Windowskey+E to launch it. It also
holds a Links Tool Bar there.

Roady,

OK, I did what you suggested but the empty 'links' folder still appears on my favorites column.
This has been an ongoing problem since I downloaded a MSFT critical update months ago. I have no idea which one.

What are your New Years plans? Leidseplein in A'dam? Oooooooh. <:)
