The mobo is Xcel/2000, details M741LMRT-H and from the website

http://www.amptron.com/html/manuals.html

I fix on the LAN Adapter Extension Bracket and FaX/Modem Module.
Using the mobo cd, I presume the drivers for the above gadgets are loaded.
Do you expect this devices to show in DM since its on board?
I presume that I need to download a fax program so that I can then send the
fax from the pc. Is there any free software for this purpose, Thanks

According to the page you referenced, the fax/modem includes integrated
sound. Also, from what I can tell reading the manual, is that the drivers
on the original CD are for operating systems earlier than XP. However there
are some XP drivers available on the amtron pages for the modem, sound and
LAN components:

Sorry, I don't know of any fax software but perhaps someone else will.

Just to add to Sharon's post:

After you install XP, assuming you don't see Fax on Start\All
Programs\Accessories\Communications on the Start menu, go to Add/Remove
Programs in Control Panel, click Add/Remove Windows Components, place a
check next to Fax Services, click next and follow the screens. When
finished, you'll have a basic fax program with which you can send and
receive.
