Hi. I've just bought a new pc with a windows vista home premiu
edition.

Whenever I turn my pc on, there will be a desktop error message wit
the following details; Could not load or run 'RmFile.exe' specified i
the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove th
reference to it in the registry.

I've tried to search for a solution on various forums with no luck. I
this a critical issue that needs to be dealt with? If so how can I fi
this? Thank you

Run MSCONFIG, check Startup items and see if any of them refers to
that file. Untick the item if you find one.

If you don't find it, run REGEDIT and search for rmfile.exe.

Delete every entry it finds.

Hi,

Most like troj_backdoor.rm, a trojan file, was removed by your antivirus
software but the entries that load it were not. Click start and type
regedit, then hit <enter> to open the registry editor. Expand the branches
to reach:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Click on the run key, then examine the right pane for a string that loads
rmfile.exe. If found, delete just that string value. Close the registry
editor when complete. If it's not in the above key, check also:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I had the same problem, but cleared it by running a copy of "Regcure".

Vista constantly creates errors and other than ME it is the worst OS microsoft have created for this type of problem!

I run regcure regularly and clear hundred of errors

I have this rmfile.exe issue as described in 1st post.
I have this issue since Aug. 30th - exactly when i installed my new Cyberpad
from Adesso, with it's 7-8 bundles software/drivers.
I found a file named rmfile.ini in c:\windows\rmfile.ini which includes
following:
_____
[Record] Id=1
[Remove] Target=0,1 [0]
RmFile=C:\Windows\Start [1]
RmFile=C:\Pensoft\
[DelFiles] Index=0
______
Pensoft is an handwritting recognition loaded with the Cyberpad and I
uninstalled, but uninstallation has not delete c:\Pensoft folder (yes, this
software insatalled directly into c:\drive.
Also, rmfile.ini is still present in c\windows. To ends this (I hope those
details help to find solution), 5 additional files have same modified
timestamp as rmfile.ini, all 5 are in C:\windows\
- rmfile.exe
- addrun.exe
- System.Fa
- Win.Fa
- Startup.txt

I have the same problem and searched the rmfile.exe in the registry
I deteled that registry
But Vista wall paper is missing for restart whenever I manually choose photo
as wallpaper, it also no respond
I try to browser the photo to set as wallpaper but it just display the file
name also missing the icon.
All the icon of file under windows explorer is missing but the file name
still here
