rma hard drive

What would you all suggest I do before returning a hard drive for
rma.Format good enough?Write zero's?
The drive seems to be working but I'm getting disk errors in event viewer
and the diagnostics is giving me mixed messages.One says return the drive
the next says errors repaired.WTF?

return it...if you have the option to write '0s' do so, format for
sure if you can't. Google freeware HD eraser

Also, take a look at this article by Robin Harris that mentions several
ways to wipe the disk.
