Can you use a RIS server to roll out Windows XP? Any important differences?

.
Absolutely! The major difference that I have noticed is
that the local administrator account on the machine is
disabled ( which is a real pain if you are using
AutoLogOn ). Simply look in the top section and remove
that entry if it applies to you.

If your workstations use similar hardware then there will be few surprises.
You'll want to update the RIS servers to the latest service pack.

Do you have a quick-check doc on how to get W2K RIS to
deploy XP? I keep getting all sorts of errors, missing
files, etc. I have RIS running on my 2K server, and
deploying W2K works fine. When I try to deploy XP I
get "biosinfo.inf" missing.

Thanks.

Try running RISETUP on the RIS server and make a new image, maybe the other
XP image is damaged.

Make sure you have at least Win2000 SP3 on the RIS Server.

Are you using Win XP volume license media or a retail (or OEM) CD?
