RIS Support for 1GB Network Adapters

Does anyone know if Microsoft plans to add support for 1GB
Network Adapters to the RIS Boot Disk?
 
The RIS boot floopy is essentially worthless.

In the BIOS, ensure your network interface card has PXE enabled. Then just
select "Boot from Network." This way you'll never forget that darned floppy.
 
The RIS boot disk is not "worthless", it's there for
NIC's that don't support PXE boot. But, I'd imagine
(hope) those 1gb adapters will support PXE boot.

The RBFG is licensed from a company named Argon technology, they have the
most recent version at:

Gigabit drivers that support PXE, such as the Intel 1000 on a Dell GX 260
can be added to the RIS image as follows:

1) Copy all of the files listed below into the I386 directory of the
CD-Based Image on the RIS server

Files Needed
************
NET8254X.INF
E1000.CAT
E1000NT5.SYS
INTELNIC.DLL
NET8254X.DIN
PROUNSTL.EXE

These files are specific to the GX260 and are available from DELL.

(2) Reboot the RIS server

With the release of Gigabit motherboards (such as the Dell OptiPlex GX 260)
we have a Gigabit NIC that is not natively supported with the original
Windows 2000 CD. When using RIS on these machines, you may experience the
error described in Q315074.

"The operating system image you selected does not contain the necessary
drivers for your network adapter. Try selecting a different operating
system image. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.
Setup cannot continue. Press
any key to exit."

The issue is resolved using the steps above.
