hi there!

can anyone there tell whether the Remote installation service for
windows xp is different from the remote installation service for
windows 2000. if so, in what respects?

I wasn't aware that there's a RIS for XP. RIS is available on Windows 2000
or 2003 server. RIS allows you to deploy both Windows 2000 and XP
professional operating systems.

From what I've seen, the difference between RIS on Windows 2000 and RIS on
Windows 2003 is minimal and negligible.

Hope this answers you question.

There is HAL filtering in RIS on Windows Server 2003 which will only present
the images with the HALs matching the target system.
