I am currently trying to get all my win 2000 users to be able to run the updated virus application and to retrieve from my papa server the new virus updates upon logon but there doesn't seem to be any where that I can give them privileges to just make those changes to the registry - I have alot of win 2000 machines and would like to make users able to run that application without being administrator. So far the only way is to make them administrator on their local pc - we do not run WIN2000 server we run Novell 6 for our network. if anyone has any ideas as to where I can either change groups the rights to to allow them this and only this. Also users have to be administrators to even be able to do the microsoft patches and upgrades from the microsoft site. Getting tired of having to touch each pc whether physically or remotely - it is very time consuming but I don't want them to be able to install the Weather Bug or any gator software just the stuff they need that is either Microsoft Update related or ativirus related.

Set up automatic update for those softwares.

I guess if the antivirus software requires that you be an administrator,
then you can't do anything about that.

Do you have any group policies that restrict users from doing windows
updates?
