Right justify with space at end

I have a table and want to put the numbers in accounting format (negatives
using parenthesis). I want the numbers to line up with the correct digits,
so when there is a positive number I need a space at the end so the first
digit will line up with the negatives.

When I justify right and enter a space after the number, it somehow ignores
the trailing spaces and pushes the number all the way to the right. How do I
over-ride this?

No decimals, but maybe I can make that work. How do I use the tabs in the
tables. When I hit the tab button it just moves me to the next cell.

Do your numbers have decimals? If so, use a decimal tab.

Use CTRL + Tab to add a tab in a table.

Turn on your ruler and click the little tab character at the left to move
between tab-types (left, center, right, decimal).

You can probably get the right tab to work with the additional space. Or set
different right tabs for each cell, depending how your table's set up, of
course.
