Right Clicking on Start Icon is Slow to Open

While connected to the network if I do a right click on
the START icon it takes about 40 seconds for the menu to
appear. However, when the laptop is out of the docking
station and not connected to the network a right click
will bring the menu up in about 3 seconds.

I have not (to my knowledge) changed any parameters or
loaded any new software

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

Same here... I noticed this problem yesterday.

When connected to the network. Every right click on icons makes a TCP
connection to
64.94.110.11 or 198.49.161.200 both belongs to verisign.com

I don't see any suspicious process running. This doesn't look good.
Looks like we have been compromised.

Have your recently updated Norton AV?

I found similar reports of slow right click behaviour after the latest NAV
Updates.

Me again,

Problem Solved... It was NORTON...
I re-run live update and it fixed the slow Right-Click.

But the latest update corruped my SystemWorks 2003 installation.
Got to manually remove it and reinstall the whole thing.

Same thing happened a few years ago. Norton Antivirus components have
security certificates signed by Verisign. They've expired and Windows
(right-click the IE icon on your desktop, Properties, Advanced, Security
section, Check for expired certificates) has to go check on the status of
the NAV components.
