Having difficulty with Windows contacts.
I can create new contacts, but that's it. If I right click a contact I get
the message that Exploder had a broblem and needs to close.
Second: the Menu bar looks nothing like that which is described in the Help.
i.e. Import is not there.

Have Office 2003 installed (yes it's legal)

Any Idea's?

I am having the same problem with my windows mail contacts also. I have
tried accessing contacts several different ways with still the same result
when I press the delete key or delete icon on the tool baror right click. I
found other posts back in March, April and May on the same issue and no
replies from Microsoft experts. My contacts lists is getting large and my
ISP has told me Thunderbird 2.0 is a better free email client. I read
somewhere Eudora may be offered free as open source soon. I am going to wait
one more month then transition to some other email client. My computer maker
says it is a Microsoft issue and as a result will not address it. I don't
think it is wide spread enough yet to garner any attention.

In the left column of explorer, right-click the Contacts folder and go to
Properties.

On the Customize page, under "What kind f folder do you want?" select
Contacts, Apply.

Nada. Does not solve the problem.
Although it does help if you get freutrated and just delete and then
re-create the folder.

Great idea,

but I thought of it already, BuBu is correct nada, zero fix, negative soution
no results. I am still moving onto another free email client. My own ISP
uses a different email clilent with their customers with no problems
whatsoever, they dropped outlook email clients and win mail clients years ago
only did not tell
their customers. I have a laptop less than six months old, paid too much
for it and Vista Basic, to let a minor contacts issue mess it up. Since Dell
has no answers and Microsoft is too busy to figure it out or act on it, in
July I am getting either open source Eudora or moving onto free TB 2.o or
FirstClass and not looking back.

If I am going to rebuild my email contacts I will do it for new software.
I have too many too remember and not the time to update each one individually.
I will probably export it and then import it to the new selection but I
have not decided yet. Also I have done a system restore as well, did not do
a thing for it.
But maybe the contacts file has no play in a restore. I think it is a
registry
issue but I do not manually work with those for fear of doing irrepairable
damage that Dell will not service without more of my $.

But thanks for posting the suggestion and excuse my level of frustration.

I have the same problem the only way to delete contacts is to minimize your
windows mail and drag a contact into your recycle bin.
Good luck let me know if it helps
