right click/windows explorer problems

I cannot right click on the start command and explore my computer. If I right
click on the stat button, all is good, but I left click on explore, I go back
to a blank desktop, and about 5 seconds later all my icons appear. I have
seen a few posts from Ramesh and Ferguson that seem to help people, but it
all seems to be regarding sp1/2. I run WINXP and thats it.

Any one have any ideas, please help

Hi ablaze,

Looks like the problem is not with the right-click, but when you open Explorer.exe process. See if the Event Log reveals a clue: http://www.winxptutor.com/eventlog.htm

BTW, the ShellExView procedure explined in the following page, is not specific to SP1 and SP2, applies to all. http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm
