right click on Start - Programs does not work

Hi All,

I would like to sort programs in the Start - Programs menu. When I right
click on the menu, nothing happens. It used to work before.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I am talking about the Start - Programs menu of windows XP, there are no
apps involved. It used to work earlier. No popup menu appears.

Hi

The reason I ask is that if you're right click does not work in other apps,
Word, Excel, Explorer etc, it could simply be a mouse configuration/driver
or even hardware issue which would be very easy to check for and fix.

Don't right-click on a blank space. Right-click when the mouse is over
one of the items in the menu.

As I said, it used to work before (many years), and it works on all other
PCs except mine
(In other words, I know how to click).

The mouse is OK. I can right click in any application.

I'm sure you know how to click. The point is WHERE you are clicking. It
doesn't work if you click in a blank portion of the start menu.

I am able to invoke to popup menu on any other PC, so obviously it is a
problem with my PC.

Control Panel> Taskbar/Start Menu Properties
On Start Menu page, click the customize button.
Place check next to "enable dragging and dropping."
OK your way back to the desktop.
Should be able to right click in the start menu now.

I was beginning to wonder too. It's such a silly problem in that the fix is
not intuitive. Symptoms certainly are consistent though.
