When I right click on a folder on the desktop, there are several options
for which the application is not longer installed. How and where can I
get rid of those items in the right click menu? I have found several
instances of each item in the registry, but their locations are not
obvious (to me) as being the menu items. Is there a way other than
registry editing to manage the right click menu items? Thanks!

This article describes how to ***add*** an item to a right-click
menu: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321379. Referring to
the section "Create a new action for file folders", it should be possible
to do the opposite. Underneath there is a description of the
registry hack alternative.
