Right click locks up my computer

I have recently installed the new service pack for Windows
XP home. SP1..

The right click on start or any icon causes the computer
to lock up and explorer quits responding. I have tried
reinstalling explorer 6, and service pack 1. no help. I
then backed up to an earlier version that booted, this did
not work either. Any thoughts.

I just recently upgraded to XP Pro and I am experiencing
the same problem. I have spoken with MS Tech support and
they have determined that its my computer that is not
compatible with XP. In particular, the bios and its
drivers. My system is a DELL Dimension. This is from the
Dell web site:

They say my system "may not provide the best customer
experience with Windows XP, as its BIOS & drivers will
not support Windows XP to Dell's testing standards."

If you find another solution, or work-around, please post
it here. Buying a new computer to get the right-mouse
option seems a bit radical.
