when i use the right-click option to open up links, it no longer works.
i just had to disable some third party extensions in order to open up
internet explorer - not sure if that has something to do with it.

tx!

Hi Frog,

I have the same problem because I have about 30 Context Menu extensions
loaded in IE. It is not that the context menu is not working it is just slow
to appear. I have to right click a number of times to get it to display.

So removing some of your extensions may help. Also the Yahoo toolbar adds
its own menus which may be slowing it down if you have it installed.

Regards.

See this site for possible help:

It's possible that an IE add-on (aka BHOs or extensions or plug-ins) is
causing the trouble - or it's spyware/malware. Disable them all in IE's
Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, Browsing section. If that does the
trick, then go to Tools...Manage Add-ons and disable two or three at a time
to narrow things down.

If no joy....

This may be caused by spyware/malware that's gotten installed on
your system. Use Ad-Aware, Windows Defender and/or Spybot Search & Destroy
to remove it.

Windows Defender (beta)

Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Also download a winsock repair tool, to have just in case cleaning up
anything found breaks it -

Winsock repair tools:
LSPFix- all versions of Windows http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip
Winsock2 Fix- Win98, ME

LavaSoft- all versions of Windows-

If all the above fails, then the problem could be something new that the
spyware cleaners above don't have in their databases yet. In that case....

ty both!

i should clarify - the MENU comes up fine when i right click, however
it's the links themselves (open/open in new page etc) not opening that
i had referred to. ty jon for the excellent set of links, i had
recently explored most of these options, but the list was an excellent
summary/reference.

the links in explorer now work - now, i just have the problem with
yahoo messenger (right clicking search and profile links, and linking
from messenger to profiles and 360 and such), but i guess that's
something for a different forum...
