Right click hang-up not working any more

Hi,

Until a couple of days ago I was able to right click on the
task bar icon of the two computers "talking" but now it
doesn't work any more, won't disconnect. I actually need to
pull the cord to hang up. Also, the right click won't show
the connection status any longer either.

About the same time this broke, I started getting messages
that svchost.exe has encountered an error and will be shut
down. svchost.exe dies after about 5 minutes without even
starting a browser.

Any ideas about where to start in finding a solution for
this problem? I'd rather not re-install 2000 pro if there's
an easier way.

Thanks!

Did you install the ms03-026 patch yet? Check for the msblast.exe proces in
taskmanager. If you find it, kill it. Get the removaltool from
www.sophos.com and install ms03-026.

disconnect without unpluging than have to restart to be
able to connect the next time. Any answers

When I first read your "look for the worm" response to my
dilemma, I though, that's what I need right now, another
person with the latest catch phrase throwing in their 2
cents. I pretty much knew I couldn't have a worm as I run
a stand alone machine, not networked or intranet, I'd done
some reading on the blaster a week or so ago and knew it
wasn't looking for me. I also run mailwasher so I don't
even download E-mail from unexpected people or attachments
of any kind.

Just for the fun of it I did open taskman. and damn, there
was the blaster.

From that second on you had my respect, and I followed
your instructions to the letter. Windows update had the
patch I needed after the link you so graciously supplied
removed the blaster from my box.

I'm wondering now how you connected my dialup not
disconnecting to the blaster worm? I never read of
anything even remotely relating the two.

I'd like to thank you for taking your time and spending
some of it here helping those of us that would be lost
without folks like you!

Again, with respect, thank you very much,

Jim
