My printer will not print on landscape. I have been in prefrences and changed
it back and forth a few times but won't move.

This is a big printer i brought home from the office and is no longer has a
service contract. I did remove the sorter stapler tray/rack from one end to
save space. Other than that it works fine.

Does this printer have a Vista-supported driver? If so, did you install it?

Hi Tim, Vista has two drivers for my printer in "add a printer" wizard. I
am assuming one of these would work. 270pcl and the 270ps. I loaded the 270
pcl. I did go the the web site to check on updates and there appears to be a
vista mine driver available. I down loaded it, but can't find it, nor do i
know how to intall. I also have a laptop running xp which won't print
vertical either.

If you can't find it, then I suggest you download it again and this time
put the file someplace where you *can* find it (such as a folder on
the desktop called "Ricoh Printer Driver").

Most good vendors will also include instructions on how to install their
drivers. There are several methods so it would take quite a bit of time
to type instructions for each one here.

Regarding your XP laptop...you will have to repeat the process only with
the XP version of the driver.

PMJI You probably do not want the 270ps driver which will be for
Postscript fonts.

Have you looked on the Ricoh website to see if they have fully featured
VISTA drivers because very often the VISTA out-of-box ones are minimal.

USA&path=http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/rc2/model/x22_27/x22_
27en.htm

has a "new" VISTA minidriver which I'd guess will not include scanning
but further down there is an XP Type 270 Twain Driver. You could try
using that by downloading it, right mouse clicking on the file,
selecting Properties / Compatibility TAB and setting it to XP with SP2
and checking Run as Administrator and OKing your way out. If it does
not start installing, right mouse click on it again and select the Run
as Administrator line in the context menu.

I have done that with my old TWAIN based HP SJ5P scanner and it works
fine using the HP utilities -- VISTA does not recognize TWAIN so the
Fax and Scan utility in VISTA will not see it.

Good luck!

Thanks for all of your suggestions, but when all else fails, ask your wife to help. On my printer, about knee high, there is a door. When you open this door there is a dial you can manually set for either landscape or Portrait. I have three kids under six and one of them must have gotten the door open. What a relief. Just snap your fingers and your problems just go away. Well the kids are still here.
Thanks

All's well that ends well then! (I have a wife like that, thank heavens <g>

Are you able to scan and fax or don't you need that?
