Reviewing check marks

I have a number of documents reviewed by my Tutor with comments added and a
number of check marks.

I want to get rid of all that to regain the original document. I found that
by going to View/Toolbars/Reviewing/Show and unchecking the various options
the comments disappear but the check marks in the text stay there.

How can I get rid of them?
