Just a quick note regarding this Enermax 620w PSU.
I had this power supply in my new AMD X2 SLI system less then 6 months
when last night out of the blue it decided to EXPLODE. I do literally
mean explode.
The "explosion" sent a "bolt of lightning" about 8-12 inches out from
the back of the computer, it sounded like a bomb going off... needless
to say it scared the crap out of me...my crotch was only 2 feet away...
if my balls had gotten zapped it would have made for an interesting
lawsuit.... I've built and owned many computers and gone through many
power supplies over the years.... Never have I witnessed one die such a
violent loud explosive death. It was rather impressive. (ps: it was not
a surge or lightning that caused it, I had other computers here on at
the time which are fine)
Anyways.... I threw in a new 500w PSU today and I'm happy to report
that nothing else was fried, my harddrives, mobo and memory all seem
fine, so far. All is well again in my expensive computer. And as a
bonus, the new PSU is -much- quieter then the Enermax was.
Summary: The Enermax was over priced, noisy, and only lasted 6 months
in a relatively dust free system. As a bonus, when it died, it died
VIOLENTLY.
I will avoid Enermax in the future... thats my 2cents worth...
