Revert to Antispyware

I liked Antispyware - it did the job and was unobtrusive. Defender is giving
me severe problems - during its daily run it starts thrashing my hard drive
and using all the memory and I have to abort the defective process to save my
hard drive. I've now scheduled the daily run at a time when the PC is
switched off. Can I revert back to Antispyware? Thanks for your help.

Microsoft Windows Defender is beta product.
BETA means the software is not finished and it is in bug-checking state
however Defender does have bugs in it
Bugs Exist Try Another

Yes , I also like Antispyware beta 1 and I do miss it but as far as I know
it is not possible to get back to it since it is ^duying^ product . Possible
solution for your problem is to realize what exactly beta is and to remove it

If you are doing a full scan daily, I would strongly advise switching to a
quickscan for the daily run. The help file recommends a daily quickscan
with a fullscan if something is found.

What antivirus are you running?

I also have this problem. It would be nice if there were a method to turn off
Defender in these situations. Everytime I post a comment, it seems to get
misinterpreted that I am running a scan... I'm not!

It is the real time piece of this product that sucks up the system resources.

If it is causing a resource load when a scan isn't happening, that's a
different issue--and I'd say more serious.

However, I'd like to be certain that isn't what is happening. The scan
happens without any user interface display, and, if a scheduled scan is
missed, it can happen during normal operations--my recollection is that it
happens 20 minutes after the next login. This activity should be recorded
accurately both on the Windows Defender home page, and in the System events
log (records will have source "WinDefend")
